Hi there! I’m Sarah, a mechanical engineer turned stay-at-home mom to our sweet little girl. About a year ago, my husband and I bought our first home together. It suits our family’s needs perfectly, but HELLO 90s! (Read: shiny brass fixtures, carpeted/wallpapered master bath, wallpaper borders in several rooms…you catch my drift). I’ve always had an I-can-do-it-myself attitude, and for better or worse, it’s stuck with me into this new phase of homeownership. I love power tools, building and refinishing furniture, and any DIY project that helps update our house on a budget. I haven’t gotten much done so far because our daughter was only 6 weeks old when we moved in, so we’ve been a bit distracted. Now that life has become somewhat predictable again, I’m ready to make a more serious effort toward fixing this place up.
I honestly never thought I’d be the type to blog, because I’ve always hated writing. I’m more of a math person. I’m also really shy and introverted, and typically avoid talking to people when I can. But for some reason the idea of sharing my adventures, successes, and failures is really exciting to me! I’m hoping this blog will help me to stay focused and to continue to work toward the goals I envision for our home. I’m also hoping I can inspire someone else somewhere along the way who may need to do a little DIY work of their own. If you like what you see, please follow along as I rehab my house and furnish it myself, one project at a time!
Thanks for stopping by!
